A GOOD LENS DOES MATTER

For clicking some great pictures at the streets, it is very important to have a very good lens. If you have a good lens then it makes a huge impact on your final picture. You can yourself feel the difference in the photograph when it is clicked with a very good lens. 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8  and the 85mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 are some lens measurement which is considered good for capturing some great street portraits. These lens measurements are small and also relatively light-weighted. You should be very much aware about the use of the lens.

SIMPLICITY IS THE KEY

An important trick to capture good street portraits, it is very important to take the simplicity funda at the highest level. By simplicity, I mean backgrounds which are not so busy. A busy background would not be able to be captured in the camera in the best way. A busy background will somehow make your image look flat and the camera won't be able to show much of the depth in the picture. So, choosing those streets which don't have a busy background is always the best. Also, early morning and the late night shoots at the streets is always a good idea to have a less busy background.

NO UNNECESSARY USE OF FLASH

You must not unnecessary use the flash for the street photography in the daytime. People tend to believe that flash would give them a brighter and a clear picture but for the street pictures, this is not always the case. Instead of using the flash, you can push your ISO up if that is necessary. In some cases, it can also happen that the onboard flash can spoil the picture. So, all you need to do is avoid the unnecessary use of flash.

COLOURS DEPICT THE TALES

Many people have a belief that street photography comes out to be the best when it is black and white or monochromatic. But always this cannot be true. If you choose a background which has too many colours and also that has a good colour combination then those pictures come out really well. And if you are clicking any person then you must always prefer a colourful background as that picture would tend to say some great stories. Colours have some feelings like white is peaceful, red is bold and loving and so on. I always prefer coloured backgrounds over monochromatic backgrounds, any day.

THE MAGIC OF THE AF ASSIST LIGHT

Sometimes we just want to capture a moment in the street without letting the people know. Suppose there are people on the streets who are doing any activity and we randomly want to capture those moments without spoiling the mood or without letting them know. Then what can you do in that case to capture the exact feel of the camera? Well, you must keep the AF (Auto Focus) light off. If you do not use this technique then most probably they would know and the entire plan of some candid pictures can be spoiled. So, keeping the auto focus off can always be helpful in such scenarios.

THE GESTURES AND THE BODY LANGUAGES

Street photography is not a small topic. If you go in depth of the street photography then you would know that it is a vast topic. And if you include people in your street pictures then you must accept their gestures and the body languages. They are the random people whom you are clicking and you must not expect any kind of pose or particular body language from them. All you have to do is accept their body gestures and make your photography skills adjust according to them. It is you who need them and not they. Also, make them feel totally comfortable and reliable in front of the camera.
